Please find below some important information about how tuition at KTL works, expectations regarding attendance, make-up sessions and our cancellation poilicy.
Your child’s first tuition session:
The first tuition session is an opportunity for your child and their tutor to get to know each other and work out how the tutor can best help your child with their school work. Our tutors are excellent at building rapport with their students and have lots of ideas to put your child at ease.
Please arrive 5 minutes early for your child’s first session so the tutor can meet you and your child and cover subjects, goals and any other important information.
Tuition session reminders:
Prior to each session you will receive a reminder email (48 hours prior) and text (24 hours prior). If you would like your child to receive the text instead, please email ktl.tuition@kidztherapy.co.nz with their name and mobile number. The SMS is a useful reminder for most of our students.
Time:
Each tuition session is 1 hour. Longer sessions are available on request.
Location - In Person:
In person tuition takes place at the KTL Tuition Centre, 642 New North Road, Morningside. Parking is available at the back of the building in the car parks marked Kidz Therapy/ KTL Tuition. Please note: Street parking in front of our building is a towaway zone between 4.00pm and 6.00pm on weekdays.
Online:
Online students will recieve a meeting link to the email address you have indicated on your registration form. If you would like the link to go directly to your child, please send their email address to ktl.tuition@kidztherapy.co.nz
What to bring:
Homework:
Homework will be set at the end of each session and checked by your child’s tutor at the following session. Typically, it will be 10 – 15 minutes of work on a topic that was covered at tutoring. This helps to consolidate student learning and also lets the tutor know if a topic needs further review. We believe it is best to complete the homework mid-way to the next session so the student applies their long-term memory.
Tutor Feedback:
A comment from your child’s tutor will be forwarded, via the Timely booking site within 2 days of their session. This brief comment will include how your child’s session went, what they reviewed/learnt and any homework.
Attendance and cancellations:
Your child’s tuition session is time that is reserved exclusively for them. To ensure we can provide quality tuition services to all of our students we have a strict cancellation policy.

You may also contact tutors on their KTL email address to arrange make-up lessons but please respect your tutor’s privacy outside of tutoring hours.
Fees:
Please pre-pay for the term by the date indicated on your invoice (five working days). Payment options include internet banking and online credit card (2.9% surcharge is incurred for credit card transactions).

Unpaid invoices may jeopardise your child’s continued tuition attendance.
Educational Psychology Reports:
If your child has an Educational Psychology report from another company or school tests such as
Lucid
that you would like our tutors to take into account, please forward it to attention of Marie, (Educational Psychologist) at
ktl.tuition@kidztherapy.co.nz . She will bullet point relevant aspects it for the tutor(s) to ensure they use the teaching methods that best suit your child. Marie will also send relevant tip sheets to their tutor(s) if your child has a learning difference.
